psychobiological and genetic data
3. Understand integrative treatment approaches for eating
disorder patients with comorbid conditions based on
available practice guidelines

underlying the phenomenology of and psychopharmacologic
treatment for the eating disorders

agents in the treatment of anorexia nervosa, bulimia

Bio:
Dr. Brewerton is Clinical Professor of Psychiatry and
Behavioral Sciences at the Medical University of South
Carolina in Charleston, where he founded their Eating
Disorders Program (1987), served as its Director (1987-2001)
and was Medical Consultant at the National Crime Victims
Research and Treatment Center (1996-2001). Dr. Brewerton
is triple board certified in general psychiatry, child/adolescent
psychiatry and forensic psychiatry. He is Distinguished
Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and Founding
Fellow of the Academy of Eating Disorders (AED). He
has served on the Board of Directors of AED and is Past-President
of the Eating Disorders Research Society and the South
Carolina Council for Child-Adolescent Psychiatry. Dr.
Brewerton has published over 100 articles and book chapters
on various aspects of eating disorders, including psychobiology,
psychopharmacology, epidemiology, comorbidity, and the
role of trauma. He is Editor of the book, Clinical
Handbook of Eating Disorders: An Integrated Approach
(April 2004). Dr. Brewerton is on the Editorial Boards
of the International Journal of Eating Disorders,
Eating Disorders: The Journal of Treatment and Prevention,
and Current Nutrition and Food Science.
He has received numerous awards, including Best Doctors
in America, America's Top Psychiatrists, Who's Who in
America, Who's Who in the World, and Outstanding Scientists
of the 20th Century.
