Bio:
Rita Freedman, Ph.D. is a well known writer and speaker
on the psychology of physical appearance. Her books
on body image, BEAUTY BOUND and BODYLOVE,
have been featured in numerous publications such as
People, Vogue, Cosmopolitan, New Woman, Self, and Health.
Media appearances include Larry King, Good Morning America,
The Today Show, CNN, 20/20 and Oprah. Dr. Freedman is
also the author of OVERCOMING LOSS, a healing guide
that helps one move beyond the pain of personal loss.
She is now completing LIVING IMAGE, which explores
the influence of mirrors on self image.
A
former Professor of Psychology at the College of New
Rochelle and at the State University of New Yorks at
New Paltz, she was Associate Editor of the journal Women
and Health, and serves on the editorial board of
Eating Disorders, The Journal of Treatment and Prevention.
A fellow of the American Psychological Association,
she currently maintains a clinical practice in Harrison,
NY.
