Treating eating disorders since 1989

I work in a private practice setting, with a multidisciplinary treatment team, i.e., a medical doctor and a registered dietitian who specialize in eating disorders. My approach is psychodynamic, that is, examining the underlying emotional issues and meanings of the eating disorder, in order to understand and lessen the power the eating disorder holds. As the individual gains insight into how the eating disorder developed. he/she also learns to change the behaviors which perpetuate the eating disorder.
Working with a team allows each individual to obtain the necessary treatment for medical and dietary issues, and a comprehensive treatment plan. Family therapy is recommended for many individuals, in order to assist loved ones, who are also affected by the eating disorder.
