Lapis lazuli means blue stone in Arabic, this stone has a hardness of 5 to 6. This magnificent mineral of a light to deep blue with golden glitter has always attracted the interest of men. Formerly known as a blue pigment in paint, it was reduced to powder mixed with oil, today it is better known in jewellery and people using lithotherapy for its energetic virtues. Lapis lazuli comes mainly from deposits in the Middle East and Afghanistan.
virtues of lapis lazuli on the emotional and spiritual:
In lithotherapy this stone stimulates creativity, it contributes to the evolution of the mind by making the mind clearer and more concentrated. It also plays a role in developing intuition, so it helps to have more wise reflections by listening to facts and intuitions. In Egypt it was a stone of wisdom often carved in the shape of a beetle. It could be used by seers to sharpen their perceptions but also by the majority of people because a clear mind doesn’t hurt anyone!
Effects on the physical:
In lithotherapy lapis lazuli is used to help improve vision, reduce dandruff and skin problems. It has a cooling effect on fevers, it would be wise to avoid wearing it if you have a problem with low blood pressure, as this stone lowers the blood pressure, which for people with high blood pressure would be an advantage. Lapis lazuli can improve certain allergy symptoms such as mucous membrane discharge.
Purification and recharging :
After a while the stone has given all the energy it could, it needs to regain its energies to bring you its benefits again. It can be energetically purified by immersing it for several hours in demineralised water, possibly lightly salted. For more efficiency, you can then charge it in the sun or in natural light or even place lapis lazuli on a large rock crystal.
Because of its colours lapis lazuli is often confused with sodalite, although the two stones share properties, lapis lazuli will be softer. In terms of price, sodalite on the other hand is much cheaper. Mainly lapis lazuli will have more action on the throat area and will be softer and the sodalite will have more action on the forehead, a direct action which does not go through quarter ways to act. The lapis lazuli has generally more sustained tones of colour with overseas blues but this is also the case of the sodalite sometimes. Lapis lazuli also has more frequent inclusions of pyrites (small golden flakes) than sodalite. In the absence of chemical tests it is better to rely on the honesty and knowledge of the seller. Prices
The price of lapis lazuli is quite expensive
Signs of the zodiac
This stone is particularly suitable for the signs of Sagittarius, fish and Aquarius.
chakras
The action takes place mainly in the fifth and sixth chakra, the throat and third eye chakra.
In what form
In the shop you can find it worked in the form of jewellery, beads, such as lapis lazuli bracelets, lapis lazuli necklaces or pendants. Minerals in lithotherapy are also often worn as rolled (polished) stones. Raw lapis lazuli is placed on a piece of furniture because if it were worn in a pocket it would damage clothing with its irregular edges. Disclaimer: Lithotherapy is part of alternative energy therapies, it does not replace so-called modern medicine.
